Spirit Lake Basketball Starts 2nd Time Thru The Lakes Conference

Girls Game

 

Cherokee took a double digit lead into the fourth quarter against Spirit Lake and then held off a late comeback attempt to pick up a 60-51 Lakes Conference win over the Indians on Tuesday night.  The Braves led 16-15 after one quarter and 27-25 at halftime.  Spirit Lake tied the game early in the third quarter, but Cherokee then went on a run to lead by 12 to enter the final quarter, 48-36.  Kaely Hummel led all scorers with 20 for the Braves.  Class 3A Fourth ranked Cherokee is now 13-1 (7-1 Lakes Conference).  Spirit Lake falls to 9-5 (5-3 Lakes Conference).  The Indians got 17 points from Bailee Newman and 14 points from Anna Brown.  Spirit Lake plays at Western Christian on Friday.  Hear the game on KUOO.

 

 

Boys Game

 

Spirit Lake rode a great defensive effort to a 74-28 win over Cherokee on Tuesday night.  The Indians led 23-5 after one quarter and 40-9 at halftime.  Spirit Lake led 61-18 after three.  The Indians saw nine different players score in the game.  Ryan Kriener led all scorers with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  He picked up his 500th rebound in his career during the contest.  Billy Brown added 18 for Spirit Lake, while Frankie Ramos had 14.  The Indians, now 12-2 (7-1 Lakes Conference) will play at Western Christian on Friday.  The game can be heard on KUOO.  Mason Pitts paced Cherokee with 11 points.  The Braves are 4-10 (2-6 Lakes Conference).
