Spirit Lake Basketball Gets Postseason Win Over LeMars
The Spirit Lake boys basketball team opened up postseason play with a win over Le Mars Monday night 61-45. The Indians never trailed and move on in the Class 3A Substate 1 tournament. Spirit Lake sealed the win at the free throw line hitting 16-23 attempts. Owen Coburn made his return last night and scored 23 points to along with 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Creighton Morisch scored 15 points and Kip Hurd finished with 12. Defensively, the held the bulldogs to just 45 points which is 18 points lower than their average on the season.
Spirit Lake is now 10-12 on the year and will travel to Storm Lake on Thursday. The tornadoes beat the crusaders of Bishop Heelan in the first game 54-46. Other scores in Class 3A Substate 1 had Spencer over MOC-FV 60-55 and Sergeant Bluff-Luton over Humboldt 86-57.
