Spirit Lake Basketball Ends The Lakes Conference Season With Wins

Girls Game


Spirit Lake started the game on a 13-0 run before Storm Lake would score a point and never looked back after that winning 59-22.  The Indians built a 41-6 lead at halftime and the starters would not play a single second in the second half.  10 different players would score for Spirit Lake and the Indians as a team would hit 10 three pointers.  They were led by Anna Brown with 16 points.  Storm Lake got 8 points from Madison Gaffney.  Spirit Lake improves to 14-7 and they finish the lakes conference with a record of 10-4.  They will host Estherville Saturday night in the opening round of the Class 3A Region 1 postseason tournament at 7 PM on KUOO.  Storm Lake drops to 0-20, 0-13 and will host LeMars Friday.



Boys Game


The offense was showcased for both teams in the boys game as Spirit Lake defeated Storm Lake 91-69.  Spirit Lake led 20-13 after 1, 37-27 at the half, 60-41 after 3 quarters and then won by 22 points.  At one point in the 4th quarter though, Storm Lake got within 13 points.  The Indians would shot 55% for the game and hit 11 three pointers including 7 of them from Billy Brown.  Spirit Lake got 33 points from Ryan Kriener and 32 points from Billy Brown.  Storm Lake had 3 players in double figures.  Parker Lange led them with 25 points, Jal Lieth had 18 and Josh Werge chipped in with 10 points.  Spirit Lake improves to 17-3 and finishes the lakes conference season at 12-2.  They will wrap up the regular season Friday night hosting Sioux City West.  Storm Lake falls to 7-10, 5-8 and will host South Central Calhoun Thursday and wrap up the conference Friday hosting LeMars.
