Spirit Lake Baseball Edges Emmetsburg

The Spirit Lake baseball team got a 2-0 Lakes Conference win Monday night over Emmetsburg after a strong pitching performance from Gavin Kramer.  The Indians scored their 1st run in the 1st inning thanks to a pass ball scoring Houston Hawkins from 3rd base.  They would add another run in the 4th inning on a single RBI from Jac Radcliffe scoring Tony Eckert.  Spirit Lake would get 2 runs on 7 hits.  They were led by Radcliffe going 2-3 with an RBI.  Tony Eckert and Cory Meschede also went 2-3.  Emmetsburg had base runners on 5 of the 7 innings but could not put a run across.  They had 6 hits for the game.  The winning pitcher was Gavin Kramer for Spirit Lake.  He went 7 innings and gave 0 runs on 6 hits with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.  The losing pitcher was Matt Kibbie for Emmetsburg.  He went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.


Spirit Lake improves to 8-3 and 4-2 in the conference and will be at Principal Park Tuesday to take on SE Valley at 11 AM.  Emmetsburg falls to 4-8 and 2-3 in the conference and will travel to Newell-Fonda on Tuesday night.
