Spencer Baseball Stays Unbeaten With Win Over Spirit Lake

Spencer edged Spirit Lake 3-2 in Lakes Conference Baseball on Wednesday night. The Tigers scored two runs in the first and a run in the third. Spirit Lake got their two runs in the fourth and would get runners at second and third with just one out in the top of the seventh, but could not bring another run in. Kade Carpenter shined in the game for Spencer. He pitched all seven innings, giving up just two runs (one earned) on four hits. He struck out six, walked two, and hit one batter. He also led the Tigers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Michael Storey was also 2-for-3 for Spencer with a RBI. The Tigers are 4-0 (1-0 Lakes Conference). They go to Algona Bishop Garrigan on Thursday. Gavin DeVos took the loss for Spirit Lake. He pitched six innings, giving up three runs (all earned) on six hits. He struck out three and walked one. At the plate, Jac Radcliffe was 1-for-3 with a RBI for the Indians. Gavin Kramer and Nick Christensen each walked and scored a run. Spirit Lake is now 4-3 (0-1 Lakes Conference). They host LeMars on Friday.
