Mon 12-19-2016

Girls Game

A slow third quarter erased a slight halftime lead for the Harris-Lake Park girls basketball team as South O’Brien handed the Wolves a 56-51 loss on Monday night.  The Wolverines ran out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter only to see H-LP come racing back and take a 28-27 lead at halftime.  The third quarter was once again problematic for the Wolves as they were outscored 14-6 to trail 41-34 to start the fourth quarter.  H-LP actually won the fourth quarter 17-15 but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.  Shelby Schueder scored 16 points for SOS and Taryn Hintz added 14.  The Wolverines are now 4-4.  They host Remsen St. Mary’s Tuesday night.  Taylor Meyer had a game high 21 points to lead the Wolves.  Jazmin Voehl had 16 points.  H-LP is now 1-7.  They host MMC/RU on Tuesday night.

Boys Game

A foul called with .2 seconds allowed South O’Brien’s Cameron Maxwell to sink a free throw and give the Wolverines a 49-48 win over Harris-Lake Park on Monday night.  The two teams were tied at 14 after one quarter and tied at 28 at halftime.  H-LP took a 37-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.  SOS took the lead early in the fourth quarter and led by as many as six before the Wolves used strong defense and a couple of SOS turnovers to tie the game with 0.2 seconds to go.  H-LP threw the ball into the rafters on the inbound play, turning it over to the Wolverines, who got a foul call before they could inbound the ball themselves.  This allowed SOS to send Maxwell to the foul line and get the win.  Maxwell had 16 points for SOS as did Carson Louscher.  The Wolverines are 4-3 and host Remsen St. Mary’s Tuesday night.  H-LP’s Bret Sohn led all scorers with 22.  He was 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.  Jordan Kyle added 12 for the Wolves, who fall to 1-4.  They host MMC/RU on Tuesday night.
