South O'Brien Basketball Sweeps HLP

Harris-Lake Park couldn't hold onto a slim first half lead and South O’Brien edged the Wolves 42-38 in War Eagle Conference basketball on Tuesday night in Paullina. The Wolves led 9-4 after one and 15-14 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Wolverines took the lead 29-26. The lead stretched to as many as nine before HLP had it down to three with less than a minute to go. SOS would hold on though and improve to 5-8 on the season. The two teams combined for 51 turnovers in the contest. Shay Lund led all scorers for the Wolverines with 18. SOS hosts Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn on Friday. Christina Galvin led the Wolves with 13. The Wolves host George-Little Rock in a makeup game on Thursday.
Harris-Lake Park led 16-13 after one quarter against South O’Brien, but the Wolverines’ defense kept the Wolves out of sync the rest of the way and SOS picked up a 65-44 win on Tuesday night in Paullina. The Wolverines zone defense created turnovers and easy buckets throughout the game. SOS led 35-26 at halftime and 53-36 after three quarters. Dallas Jalas scored 20 points to lead all scorers with 17 of those in the first half. He had five 3 pointers. Damon Struve added 18 points while Kyle Paulsen chipped in 14 for the Wolverines, who improve to 9-3 on the season. They host Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn on Friday. HLP got 14 from Jordan Kyle and 11 from Brady Van Iperen. The Wolves are 3-6 and host George-Little Rock in a non-conference matchup at home on Thursday. That game is a makeup from a snowed out contest on January 5th.
