SLP second in regional dual tourney

CLARION – Spirit Lake Park won its first-round match before falling in the finals of a Class 2A regional dual tournament Tuesday.

The Indians opened with a 48-36 win over Woodward-Granger.

Winners for the Indians, all by falls were Dakoda Powell (220), Patrick Bauer (285), Isaac Dixon (132), Jayden Gilge (138), Nate Cornwall (145), Kyler Rieck (152), Keegan Bradley (170) and Koltyn Bradley (182).

In the other first-round match, host Clarion-Goldfield-Dows downed Algona 53-13.

In the championship march, CGD topped Spirit Lake Park 64-18.

Winners for SLP in that match, also all by fall, were Dixon (132), Rieck (152) and Dakoda Powell (220).

In a Class 2A regional at Sergeant Bluff, Webster City won the title by beating Central Lyon/George-Little Rock 51-27 and Sioux City Bishop Heelan Catholic 51-21. Heelan had upended Sergeant Bluff-Luton 36-32 in the opening round.

West Sioux won a Class 1A Regional at Emmetsburg with a 34-33 win over Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire 33 and 42-33 victory over Emmetsburg. The E-Hawks beat West Lyon 46-24 in the first round.
