San Pedro powers ILCC to split
NORFOLK, Neb. - Iowa Lakes Community College split a softball doubleheader with Northeast on Thursday.
The Hawks won the opener 4-2, with the Lakers taking the nightcap 16-9.
In the first game, Desiree Lopez (Redlands, Calif. Citrus Valley) had two hits and scored a run, while Leilani San Pedro (Redlands, Calif. East) hit a two-run home run.
Yasmine Nix (Coachella, Calif.) allowed four earned runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out one.
In the second game, San Pedro had three hits including two homers and a double, eight runs batted in and three runs scored.
Julia Sullwold (Totino-Grace) also had hits and scored three times.
Gabby Heckard (Estherville Lincoln Central) and Kacie Salazar (Bakersfield, Calif.) also each homered.
Bibiana Rosales (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) pitched three and one-third innings, allowing seven earned runs on seven hits and walking five. Nix pitched three and two-third innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits, walking two and striking out three.
The Lakers are 11-15 overall. They're scheduled to play at Kirkwood Community College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
