Pioneer Girls Basketball Makes It Two In A Row
The Okoboji girls won their second straight road game, playing back to back nights 53-42 over Boyden-Hull on Friday night. The Comets would race to a 6-2 lead but the Pioneers would battle back with a 10-2 run to end the first quarter and take a 12-8 lead into the second stanza. The Pioneers would never give that lead up the rest of the night, but Boyden-Hull would not go away, playing an even second quarter to make it 22-18 at half. Okoboji was able to push the lead out to 30-20 in the third quarter but the Comets answered with a 10-7 run to end the stanza and cut the lead to 37-30 heading into the fourth quarter. Okoboji scored a quick bucket to start the quarter and the lead never got below 8 the rest of the way as Magan Christopherson and Kallyn Stumbo iced the game at the line, going a combined 6 for 6 in the last two minutes. Stumbo led the Pioneers with another great floor game, scoring 23 points to go along with 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals; Christopherson had another solid night with 12 points and 2 steals while Camry Jones added 8 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Boyden-Hull was led by Brooke Zylstra and Mallory Niles who each netted 13 points on the night. The 2-2 Pioneers will hit the road once again on Tuesday as they travel to Sioux Center to take on the Class 3A #1 Warriors.
