Okoboji Softball Wins Non Conference Game Against GT/RA
Okoboji snapped an eight game losing streak with an 11-6 victory over Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayshire on Tuesday night in non-conference softball in Terri. The Pioneers scored two in the top of the first off a walk by Cory Hoffman and a two run homer by Emily Wintz. The Titans got a run back in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Madison Norris, who scored on a past ball. Okoboji added a run in the top of the third and GTRA would tie it up in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own. Okoboji retook the lead in the fifth before adding four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. The Titans did not go away quietly though. Trailing by eight runs in the bottom of the seventh, they would add three more runs with runners at second and third before the Pioneers secured the win.
Grace Wintz was the winning pitcher for Okoboji. She pitched all seven innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, walking three, and striking out three. At the plate, Lindsey Wittrock was 2-for-3 for the Pioneers with two RBI and a run scored. Abbie Klatt was 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. Cory Hoffman was 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. Okoboji is now 5-8 and plays at George-Little Rock/Central Lyon on Thursday.
Taylor Park was the losing pitcher for GTRA. She gave up seven runs on six hits, striking out four and walking three. Norris pitched in relief for the Titans. She gave up four runs on four hits, striking out two and walking two. Norris was 2-for-4 for GTRA at the plate with a RBI and two runs scored. Maddy Hough was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Toni Alesch was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. GTRA is 3-5. They host East Sac County in Ruthven on Wednesday.
