Okoboji Softball Gets Non Conference Win
Okoboji picked up a non-conference softball win over Manson-Northwest Webster 11-1 in six innings on Thursday night in Milford. The Pioneers got a couple runs off two hits and a pair of Cougar errors in the first inning. MNWW got one of the runs back in the top of the fourth, but Okoboji would score three runs in the bottom of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings each to end the game early. Brooklyn Barnett pitched the first three and 1/3 innings for the Pioneers. She gave up the one run on two hits and two walks. Abbie Klatt got the win in relief for Okoboji. She pitched the final two and 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on one hit while striking out eight. Siera Seeders led the Pioneers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. Lindsey Wittrock was 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Okoboji has won three in a row and now sits at 8-12 on the year. They host West Lyon on Monday. Faith Troshynski was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Cougars. They committed seven errors in the game. Sophie Herzberg was the losing pitcher. She pitched the first four and 1/3 innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits, striking out one while walking three. Kate Schreier pitched in relief. She gave up three runs on four hits. MNWW is now 5-9.
