Okoboji Softball Ends Season At Swea City

North Union broke a scoreless tie with six runs in the third inning and defeated Okoboji 11-0 in 5 innings to open up Class 2A Region 1 softball in Swea City on Wednesday night.  The Pioneers had the bases loaded in the top of the third inning but failed to bring a run across and then the Warriors offense heated up.


Autumn Boland was 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.  She ended the game in the fifth with a two run home run.  Sarah Rolling was 1-for-3 with a solo home run.  Kate Anderson was 1-for-3 with a two run home run.  Peyton Oleson was 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.  Oleson was the winning pitcher.  She gave up no runs on four hits, no walks, and five strike outs.  The Warriors are 31-9.  They host West Lyon on Friday.


Brooklyn Barnett was 1-for-2 with a double to pace Okoboji.  Grace Wintz took the loss on the mound.  She pitched the first three and 2/3 innings, giving up eight runs on six hits, three walks, an a strike out.  Barnett pitched in relief for the Pioneers.  She gave up three runs on two hits and a walk.  Okoboji's season ends at 11-21.  They graduate senior Anna Seeger.
