Carissa Doran, a 2020 Okoboji High School graduate recently signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. Doran was a co-captain of the 2019-20 Pioneer team that finished the season with a 22-2 record, including a Siouxland Conference Championship and Regional Final appearance. Doran set an Okoboji school record for 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 39.8% from the 3-point line while making 33 triples; Carissa also shot 71% from the free throw line and averaged 6.8 points and 1.2 assists a game while being named the Teammate of the Year for the Pioneers.
Comments From Head Coach John Adams:
“Carissa lead by example all year for us, working extremely hard in the classroom, in the weight room and on the basketball court. We were really blessed to have her move in for her senior season, as she not only fit in with our team and culture, she added high value to both. Carissa is obviously a great shooter, and she also did so many little things well for us that don’t always show up on a stat sheet but helped our team win 22 games.”
Carissa is the daughter of Steve and Pamela Doran (pictured above) and plans to double major in business administration and sports management at Morningside.
