Okoboji Girls Extend Win Streak To 5 Games
The Okoboji girls remained hot with a 73-22 home win over Sibley-Ocheyedan on Tuesday night. The Pioneers jumped out to a quick 12-3 lead and never looked back; taking a 21-6 lead into the second quarter. Okoboji kept the defensive pressure up in the second quarter and expanded their lead to 37-10 at halftime. The Generals would score five quick points in the third quarter but Okoboji answered with a 21-3 run to end the quarter with a 60-18 lead. All 16 Pioneers would see the court in the fourth quarter as Okoboji continued to guard well and held the Generals to just four points in the final stanza. All five starters were in double figures for the Pioneers and Kallyn Stumbo had a triple-double with 15 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds. Sibley-Ocheyedan was led by Toni Lonneman’s 12 points. With the win Okoboji improves to 7-3 and 5-3 in the Siouxland. The Pioneers will be home again on Friday against George-Little Rock.
Boji Girls Coach John Adams
“I was really proud of how the girls came out with energy from the opening tip and played that way for 32 minutes. This group is really buying into the defensive end of the court as we’ve held our last four opponents to an average of 30 points per game. Ali Goehring got us going on offense early with some nice 3 pointers. Kallyn had a phenomenal game with a triple-double and she continues to do so much for us on both ends of the court. Magan had a great defensive game and then got her shot really going in the second half and Camry and Grace were very dominant in the paint on both ends of the court. Our bench also gave us some great energy and minutes tonight and it’s great to see all 16 girls contribute.”
