Okoboji Girls Basketball Still Perfect
The Class 2A 5th ranked Okoboji Pioneers remained unbeaten on the season, downing Central Lyon on Friday night 67-35. Okoboji opened the game up with a 9-0 run and took a 14-2 lead after the first quarter. The Pioneers would continue to push the lead out in the second quarter and open up a 33-16 lead at the break. The 3rd quarter was much of the same as Okoboji would outscore the Lions 19-10 to take a 52-26 lead into the final stanza. The Pioneers would continue to guard and share the ball well in the 4th quarter to get the 32 point win. Okoboji had 22 assists on 24 made baskets on the night. Molly Mitchell led the Pioneers with another double-double on the night with 21 points, 12 rebounds to go along with 5 blocks; Megan Peschong would also record a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 5 assists and 2 blocks; Emily Wintz added 8 points with 3 assists; Kailye Hromatko had 5 rebounds with 3 assists and Brenna McCabe and Breanne Kopera each had 4 steals on the night. Central Lyon was led by Makayla Wit’s 15 points. Okoboji is now 16-0 on the season and remains in first place in the Siouxland Conference with a 13-0 mark. They will travel to Rock Valley Tuesday on Y 100.
