Okoboji Girls Basketball Stay Perfect
Senior Megan Peschong recorded her 1,000th career point as 6th ranked Class 2A beat West Lyon 61-41 on Friday night. The Pioneers got off to a quick start and took a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. West Lyon would cut the lead to 15-11 before Peschong would hit a 3 pointer and Okoboji would outscore the Wildcats 16-6 to take a 31-17 lead at halftime. The Pioneers would continue to build the lead in the 3rd quarter behind a tough high-low combination of Peschong and Molly Mitchell while Shaelyn Adams hit a two three pointers to help Okoboji take a 47-28 lead into the 4th quarter. West Lyon could get no closer than 18 in the final stanza and the Pioneers would take the commanding 20 point victory. Okoboji was led by Mitchell’s 16 points and 10 rebounds; Peschong added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists; Adams chipped in with 12 points and 5 rebounds and Emily Wintz added 9 points to go along with 6 assists. The Pioneers improve to 13-0 overall and 11-0 in the Siouxland Conference and will travel to Spirit Lake on Saturday night on KUOO.
