Okoboji Girls Basketball Start Season At Boyden-Hull
The #9 (3A) Okoboji Girls opened up their season with a 58-39 win at Boyden-Hull on Monday night. The Comets jumped to a quick 9-3 lead but Okoboji responded with a 12-0 run to end the quarter and take a 15-9 advantage. The Pioneers continued to roll in the second quarter, growing the lead to 30-9 before Mallory Nilles hit a 3-pointer to end the Okoboji run before the Pioneers scored the last five points of the half to take a 35-12 lead into the intermission. The third quarter was played pretty evenly, as the Comets chipped two points off the lead to make the score 41-20 entering the final quarter. Boyden-Hull would get no closer than 17 the rest of the way as Okoboji ended up with the 19 point victory. Kallyn Stumbo had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with 9 assists; Camry Jones also had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds; Magan Christopherson led Okoboji with 15 points and added 5 rebounds and 4 assists while Carissa Doran was the fourth Pioneer in double figures with 10 points. Brooke Zylstra led Boyden-Hull with 11 points. Okoboji is off for Thanksgiving and will hit the road again for a battle with Sioux Center next Tuesday.
