Okoboji Girls Basketball Gets Back In Win Column; Boys Lose By 6
The #5 Class 2A Okoboji Pioneers bounced back from their first loss of the year in resounding fashion with a 54-27 win at Sibley-Ocheyedan on Friday night. Okoboji took control early in the game and led 14-6 after the first quarter. The Pioneers would build on that lead in the second quarter, holding the Generals to 3 points while building a 31-9 halftime advantage. The third quarter was played evenly as Okoboji would take a 41-19 lead into the final quarter. The Pioneers would widen the gap in the 4th quarter and cruise to the 27 point victory. Molly Mitchell led Okoboji with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks; Megan Peschong added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals; Shaelyn Adams chipped in with 8 points and 4 assists and Brenna McCabe handed out 5 assists. Okoboji improves to 19-1 on the season and is 16-1 in the Siouxland Conference. The Pioneers will finish up the regular season on Tuesday with a trip to second place Sioux Center on Y 100.
