Okoboji Girls Basketball Falls At MOC; Boys Keep It Close
Okoboji lost at MOC-FV 54-42 in Siouxland Conference action on Tuesday night. The first quarter was back and forth with Okoboji jumping to a 10-7 lead before MOC-FV would go on a 4-0 run to end the quarter and take an 11-10 lead into the second stanza. MOC-FV would take advantage of Okoboji’s turnovers in the second quarter and build a 26-20 lead at halftime. The Pioneers would cut the lead to 31-27 but the Dutch would end the quarter on a 16-8 run to take command of the game and a 47-35 lead into the fourth quarter. The final stanza was much of the same for Okoboji as they couldn’t get any closer than 10. Kallyn Stumbo lead the Pioneers with 15 points; Grace Wintz would chip in 8 points while Ali Goehring and Camry Jones lead Okoboji with 6 rebounds. Morgan DeJong lead the Dutch with 16 points. The loss drops Okoboji to 11-7 on the season and 8-7 in the Siouxland Conference. MOC-FV improves to 12-7 and 10-5 in the conference.
The Pioneers were led by Kip Hurd with 30 points, Bryce Peter with 20 and Logan Abrahamson with 15. Okoboji basketball will be back in action Friday against Sibley-Ocheyedan on Q102.
