Okoboji Girls Basketball Edges Boyden Hull
The 7th ranked 2A Okoboji Girls survived a cold shooting night from the field to beat Boyden-Hull on Tuesday night 41-35. The Pioneers got off to a slow start and trailed 11-2 before getting a big 3 pointer from Bre Kopera and a 15 footer from Mallory Miler to trim the lead to 11-7 at the end of the first. Okoboji would lock down Boyden-Hull in the 2nd quarter and outscore the Comets 12-3 to take a 19-14 lead into the break. The Pioneers would open up a 30-20 lead but Baily Ten Haken would hit a couple three-pointers to trim the lead to 32-26 heading into the final stanza. The Comets would cut the lead to 38-35 but Shaelyn Adams hit two clutch free throws to put the Pioneers up five and they would hold on for the win. Okoboji was lead by Megan Peschong’s 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Molly Mitchell added 8 points with 10 rebounds and 4 blocks while Emily Wintz added 9 points. Boyden-Hull was lead by Ten Haken’s 10 points and the Comets were 14-17 from the free throw line on the night. Okoboji improves to 7-0 on the season and 6-0 in the Siouxland Conference. The Pioneers will travel to Orange City to take on MOC-FV in a big conference game on Friday.
