The game was a back and forth battle all night, with the first quarter coming to a close with a score of 12-10 in favor of the Comets. The Pioneers fought back to take the lead in the second quarter, but the Comets closed the half well taking a 30-29 lead going into halftime. Both teams fought hard coming out of halftime, and the Pioneers were able to build a 44-38 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Pioneers worked hard to maintain the lead to close the game with the final score ending 63-59 in favor of the Pioneers. Lucas Lorenzen led the Pioneers with yet another double double, contributing 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds on the night. Comments From Boji Coach Ryan Stumbo:

We are just unbelievably proud of the type of effort and togetherness we received from the guys tonight. They deserve a tremendous amount of credit for buckling down and competing out there on the floor. We were able to defend and rebound well enough to come away with a nice win. We have played well together on the offensive side of the floor and have created some nice rhythm for each other for several games now by making the right reads and working hard to give ourselves second chances. We are very happy that our seniors - Cris Halbur, Blake Peter, and Ryan Feller - could experience a senior night like this one as they have been a hard working, genuine, and selfless group this year. They all contributed in important ways tonight that helped us to get the job done and will have left a positive impact on our team culture, which we take a lot of pride in. We will focus on the positives of tonight's game but will need to come very focused and ready to go next week as we get into tournament play against some really good competition.
