Okoboji Boys Advance Over Emmetsburg In 2A Boys Basketball

Okoboji vs. Emmetsburg

 

Emmetsburg came out hot in the 1st quarter leading 17-4 over Okoboji.  The E'hawks would extend that lead to 22-9 with about 4 minutes to go in the half.  Okoboji then closed out the quarter on a 14-3 run to only trail by 2 half 25-23.  It was a back and forth 3rd quarter as Emmetsburg led 39-36 heading into the final quarter.  In the 4th, Okoboji took their first lead at 6 minutes to go.  Emmetsburg and Okoboji would find themselves tied at 43 with 3 minutes to go.  The Pioneers would close out the game on a 9-3 run and win the game 52-46.  The big difference was at the free throw line.  Okoboji was 20-29 at the stripe while Emmetsburg was only 4-7.  Alex Heller alone for Okoboji was 16-21 at the charity stripe.  He finished with a game high 30 points.  Emmetsburg was led by Thomas Schultes with 14, but he had 12 of those in the first half.  Okoboji improves to 6-16 on the season and will play at #1 Hull Western Christian Thursday starting at 8 PM on Y 100.  Emmetsburg finishes their season at 4-17 and graduate Christian Strohman, Wes Schultes, Clayton Freeman, Cameron Heddinger, Eli Reichart and Nick Grandstaff.
