Okoboji Basketball Travels To MOC-FV Friday December 18

The Okoboji Pioneers, ranked #7 in Class 2A picked up a big road win over MOC-Floyd Valley on Friday night 55-45.  The Dutch held a slim 12-10 margin after the first quarter and would build on that lead in the 2nd to open up a 27-18 lead at the break.  Okoboji would turn up the defensive pressure in the 3rd quarter and battle back to take a 35-33 lead into the 4th quarter on a Cory Hoffman jumper after a Shaelyn Adams 3-pointer had tied the game at 33.  The Dutch would retake the lead at 38-35 before Megan Peschong drained a 3 pointer to start a 7-0 Okoboji run that put the Pioneers in front for good.  Peschong and Adams would both hit four free throws down the stretch to stretch the game out for Okoboji.  Megan Peschong lead the Pioneers with another great game, scoring 21 points with 10 rebounds 4 assists and 3 steals.  Molly Mitchell added 9 points with 10 rebounds and 2 blocks; Emily Wintz also had 9 points with 3 assists and Shaelyn Adams added 7 points with 4 assists.  Brooklyn Barnett had a great night off the bench with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.  MOC-FV was led by Breanne Schuiteman and Destiny Einerwold who each scored 8 points.  Okoboji improves to 8-0 on the season and 7-0 in the Siouxland.  MOC-FV drops to 5-2 and 5-1 in the Siouxland.  The Pioneers will take on Sibley-Oceydan on Tuesday night in Milford on Q 102.
