Okoboji Basketball Travels To Central Lyon, Rock Rapids
The #8 Class 2-A Okoboji Pioneers won their fourth straight road game on Tuesday night winning in Rock Rapids over Central Lyon 58-29. The Pioneers jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter and never looked back, taking a 19-6 lead after one and building that to a 31-13 lead at the break. Okoboji pushed the lead out more in the 3rd quarter by outscoring the Lions 20-6 to take a 51-19 lead into the final quarter. Central Lyon would win the 4th quarter 10-7 to cut the final margin to 29. Okoboji was lead by another strong performance by Megan Peschong, as the 6’0 senior had 23 points on 11-15 shooting with 8 rebounds and 3 assists, all while sitting out the 4th quarter. Emily Wintz had another strong night with 11 points and 6 rebounds; Brooklyn Barnett chipped in with 9 points off the bench; Molly Mitchell added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks; Shaelyn Adams lead the Pioneers with 6 assists while Cory Hoffman added 4 steals and 4 assists. Okoboji improves to 5-0 on the season with a 4-0 Siouxland Conference mark and will battle Rock Valley at home on Friday. The game can be heard on Y 100. On the FM dial it is 100.1 FM
Central Lyon defeated Okoboji 74-63. The Pioneers drop to 2-2 and 1-2 in the conference.
