Comments From Okoboji Coach John Adams:
“Sheldon came out and really tested us tonight, which was great for our girls. We couldn’t shake them until the fourth quarter, but it was fun to see the girls respond to another challenge. Magan got it going on offense in the second half and really guarded well. Kallyn kept getting stronger as the game progressed and took over in the fourth quarter. Camry did a great job of controlling the paint for us, and Carissa really brought great energy the entire game, hitting some big shots and getting on the floor to get a lot of loose balls. Sheldon has a very good, young team and we’re excited to come out with the win. This team really trusts each other and has done a very good job of falling in love with the process of becoming great. We’re excited to get back on the court for practice on Monday.”
Comments From Okoboji Coach Ryan Stumbo:
We were really proud of the way we competed tonight. Our energy on defense was really solid and consistent throughout the game, and we were able to attack the floor well on offense for good looks. Lucas Lorenzen had an incredible game, and Jamison Helmers had a really solid performance tonight on both ends of the floor. We had all of our guys do things that don't show up in the stat book, particularly on the defensive end, that really helped us secure the win tonight. All that being said, we are most proud of the composure and mentality these boys brought tonight. They focused on the next play and giving more power to how they would respond to adversity rather than getting caught up in it. It was really fun to see that growth, and we will need to continue to show some mental toughness as we continue the year.
