Okoboji Basketball Suffers Tough Loss At West Lyon
The Okoboji girls fell to 0-2 on the season with a 48-46 double overtime loss at West Lyon. Okoboji had another strong first quarter jumping out to a 13-7 lead. The second quarter was played pretty evenly and the Pioneers took a 23-18 lead into halftime. Okoboji would push the lead to 32-21 but West Lyon scored the last five points in the quarter to cut the lead to 31-26 at the end of the third. Foul trouble would once again haunt Okoboji as Kallyn Stumbo fouled out with 5:00 remaining the Pioneers leading 37-30. West Lyon hit a big 3 pointer with 2:00 remaining and the Wildcats forced a couple turnovers to even the game at 39-39 at the end of regulation. Neither team could open up a lead larger than 2 points in either overtime but the Wildcats held Okoboji to just one point in the second overtime to pull out the win. The Pioneers were 1-6 from the free throw line in the second overtime. Okoboji was led by Magan Christopherson’s 17 points while Kallyn Stumbo added 15 and Camry Jones pulled down a game high 19 rebounds. West Lyon, who improved to 2-0 on the season was led by Jordyn Kramer’s 17 points.
