Comments From Coach Adams

“It was another typical Siouxland Conference battle.  MOC-FV has been playing very well lately winning 5 of 7 games with their only two losses to Western Christian and Sioux Center so we knew it would be a dog-fight all night.  We were sluggish in the first half on offense, which was my fault as we were standing around too much, but we came back with a very good third quarter. MOC-FV got hot to start the fourth quarter and we really challenged the girls during a time out; we really responded by picking up our defense and moving the ball on offense. Kallyn hit some big shots for us and Grace stepped up with some big plays and free throws. It was great to get the win on Senior Night for five seniors who have done so much for our program, always putting their team ahead of themselves.”

Boys Game

The Dutchmen traveled to Okoboji Tuesday night to face the Pioneers in another Siouxland Conference match up. The first quarter ended with a 14-8 lead for MOC-FV. The Dutchmen expanded their lead 31-19 going into half. Both teams battled with MOC-FV maintaining a lead of 49-32 going into halftime. The final score of the game ended 76-47. The Pioneer's were led by Cris Halbur's 15 points. Jamison Helmers contributed 9 and Kyle Martin 8 for the Pioneers. MOC-FV was led by Alex Van Kalsbeek's 21 points while Roman DeJong and Trenton De Haan both contributed 14 a piece.

Comments From Coach Stumbo

Give a lot of credit to MOC-FV tonight. They did a nice job of getting to the free throw line and working hard to use their size to put us in difficult positions defensively. They also shot the ball from the outside really well in the second half. We had some looks from the outside that were not falling for us tonight, and in the second half did a better job of demanding the ball inside on their zone, which led to some high low looks for us. We look forward to polishing up some areas, learning from this one, and getting back on the court again.
