Okoboji Basketball Makes Road Trip To Rock Valley

Okoboji won a big road game over Rock Valley on Friday night 67-56.  The Rockets would race to an 8-0 lead before Okoboji would settle themselves in and to on a 19-6 run before a ¾ court shot by Alexis Mousel would close to gap to 19-17 at the end of the first quarter.  The Pioneers would build on the lead and take a 33-26 advantage into halftime.  The Pioneers would build the lead to 41-31 before a 13-7 Rock Valley run would trim the score to 48-44 at the end of the third quarter.  The Pioneers would never let the Rockets get closer than four in the final stanza as Grace Wintz and Magan Christopherson hit clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.  Kallyn Stumbo had a huge night for Okoboji with 33 points, 10 rebounds, 7 steals and 6 assists; Wintz added 10 points with 7 rebounds and Christopherson chipped in with 9 points.  Sammie Blum lead Rock Valley with 18 points.  With the win Okoboji improves to 11-6 on the season and 8-6 in the Siouxland Conference while Rock Valley falls to 11-5 and 9-5 in the Siouxland.  The Pioneers will hit the road again Tuesday against MOC-FV. 

 

 

Boys Game

 

Rock Valley topped Okoboji 72-58 in Siouxland Conference Boys Basketball on Friday night.  An early run by the Rockets proved to be the difference maker in the game.  Rock Valley built an 18-5 lead after one quarter.  The Pioneers cut the lead to 12 at halftime at 31-19.  A third quarter run put the Rockets up 52-30 after three quarters.  The Pioneers got as close as 12 in the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback.  Cade Moser led all scorers with 19 for Rock Valley, who improves to 12-3 (11-2 Siouxland).  Okoboji got a game high 22 points from Kip Hurd while Logan Abrahamson added 13.  The Pioneers fall to 2-13 (2-11 Siouxland).
