Okoboji Basketball Hosts Rock Valley
Okoboji lost a hard fought game to Rock Valley on Tuesday night 63-54 in Milford. The teams went back and forth in the first quarter and were all tied at 13 at the end of the stanza. Okoboji would heat up in the second quarter pulling ahead by 8 before a 3 at the buzzer by Rock Valley senior Cassie Van Beek would cut the lead to 34-29 at the half. The third quarter was back and forth, with Rock Valley taking the lead at 39-36 before Okoboji would end the quarter on an 8-4 run to claim a 44-43 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Rokcets would heat up from outside and hit free throws down the stretch to pull away at the end for the nine point win. Okoboji was led by freshman Kallyn Stumbo who netted 14 points to go along with 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Grace Wintz and Magan Christopherson each added 10 points and Camry Jones grabbed 10 rebounds for the Pioneers. Rock Valley was lead by senior Van Beek who finished with 18 points. Okoboji falls to 3-4 on the season while Rock Valley improved to 7-1.
