Okoboji Basketball Finishes Up 2014 At Sibley

Despite being win less on the season, Sibley-Ocheyedan had upset on their minds through three quarters, but a 22 point fourth quarter allowed Okoboji to remain unbeaten heading into Christmas break as the Pioneers beat the Generals 48-37 on Monday night in Sibley. S-O jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter. The Generals stretched the lead to 18-6 but the Pioneers would outscore the Generals 11-2 the rest of the half and trail S-O 20-17 at halftime. In the third quarter, the lead went back and forth with the Generals leading 27-26 at the start of the fourth quarter. It was tied again at 30 in the fourth quarter but the Pioneers went on an 18-7 run to get the win. Okoboji got 13 from Megan Peschong to improve to 9-0 (8-0 Siouxland). They travel to Sioux Center on January 6th in a battle of unbeaten ball clubs. S-O got 12 from Brooke Grimes. They fall to 0-9 (0-8 Siouxland) and host George-Little Rock on January 6th.
An exciting back-and-forth Siouxland Conference boys game went to Sibley-Ocheyedan 56-55 on Monday night in Sibley. The two teams were tied at 15 after one quarter and at 29 at halftime. Okoboji had a 42-40 lead after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, both teams ran into foul trouble, but the Generals were able to come away with their first win on the season. Carson Marco led S-O with 24 points. Evan Mehls had 12 points as the Generals improve to 1-7 (1-6 Siouxland). They are at Trinity Christian on January 3rd. Despite the loss, Tyler Stumbo led all scorers in an impressive 35 point outing for Okoboji. He was 9-for-9 at the free throw line. The Pioneers are 1-6 (0-6 Siouxland) and will look for their first conference win at West Lyon on January 3rd.
