Okoboji Basketball Drops 2 Games To MOC-FV
The #5 Class 2A Okoboji Pioneers lost their first game of the season on Thursday night to the 12th ranked Class 3A MOC-FV Lady Dutch 43-35. MOC-FV slowed the game down and took advantage of a cold Okoboji team to earn the victory. The Lady Dutch took an 8-4 lead after the first quarter but Okoboji would respond in the second quarter and a buzzer shot by Brooklyn Barnett gave the Pioneers a 15-14 lead heading into the half. MOC-FV would score the first 5 points of the third quarter and never relinquish the lead again; taking a 29-23 lead into the fourth quarter. The Lady Dutch would build the lead to 10 before Okoboji cut it to 4 with just under 3:00 remaining but clutch free throw shooting by MOC-FV would put the game away. Okoboji was led by Molly Mitchell, who had 18 points and 7 rebounds; Megan Peschong added 8 points with 4 assists while Brenna McCabe had 4 assists and Shaelyn Adams grabbed 3 steals on the night. The Pioneers fall to 18-1 on the season and 15-1 in the Siouxland, where they still hold a one game lead over Sioux Center. They will travel to Sibley Friday on Q 102.
