No. 15 Lakers upend No. 10 Trojans
MASON CITY – NJCAA Division II 15th-ranked Iowa Lakes was a 108-96 winner over No. 10 NIACC in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference men's basketball Wednesday.
Keshawn Pegues had a big night for the Lakers with 25 points and 20 rebounds.
Justin Brookens had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists; Malcolm Clayton 16 points and 6 rebounds; and Alan Kikwaki added 13 points.
The Lakers found themselves trailing by 12 points only three minutes into the game.
“That was a good win for our team against a top team in the country,” said ILCC coach Troy Larson. “Our guys played tough after a not so good start and we were able to come away with a victory.”
NIACC won the women's game 84-69.
The Iowa Lakes men will host the Dakota Wesleyan JV Sunday. Next game for the women will be Tuesday at the Gustavus JV.
