Lakers swept by third-ranked Eagles

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Lakes Community College softball team dropped two games to NJCAA Division II third-ranked Kirkwood Community College in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play Saturday.

The Eagles won 11-2 and 16-3.

In the opener, Julia Sullwold had three hits, Yasmine Nix had two hits including a home run and Kaitlin Walsh had two hits with a double and an RBI.

Nix took the pitching loss as she allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits, walked one and struck out two.

Nix and Kaitlin Walsh each homered in the second game for Iowa Lakes. Kacie Salazar had two hits including a double.

Bibiana Rosales took the pitching loss. Naomi Tolmachoff pitched in relief.

The Lakers are 2-7 in conference play and 11-17 overall.

ILCC is scheduled to host the Dakota State JV in a doubleheader at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
