Lakers split with Tritons
FORT DODGE – Iowa Lakes and Iowa Central split a pair of eight-run rule games on Wednesday. The Lakers won the opener 15-5 in five innings, while the Tritons won the nightcap 9-1 in six innings.
Yasmine Nix won the opener for ILCC, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits and striking out two.
Desiree Lopez had three hits, scored three runs scored and stole two bases; Julia Sullwold had a pair of hits and scored twice; and Kaitiln Walsh also had two hits.
Bibiana Rosales took the loss for the Lakers in the second game. Nix and Sullwold also pitched.
Desiree Lopez had two hits including a triple and a stolen base; and Montanna Popp also had two hits.
The Lakers are 3-7 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and 12-18 overall.
Iowa Lakes travels to Boone Thursday to take on Des Moines Area Community College.
