Laker swimmers perform well at Luther

DECORAH - Several members of the Iowa Lakes Community College swimming and diving teams had good days Saturday at the Luther Invitational.

Juliana Villa won three events, the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.04), 200 backstroke (2:13.47) and 500 freestyle (5:21.7).

Villa is ranked third nationally in the 200 back, fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 500 freestyle. She also ranks sixth in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 free.

Villa also led off the winning 800 free relay with a meet-best 200 free relay split.

Swimming the other legs were Gabi Reis, Liz Crewe-Brown and Mavi Valentin.

Reis also the 200 breaststroke in a season-best 2:39.02, which places her fifth in the national rankings.

Reis also placed third in the 400 IM and fourth in the 200 IM.

For the ILCC men, Jacob Bohnert had season-best swims in the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle; Gabriel Carmona had a season-best in the 400 IM; and Garrett Nielson finished the 200 butterfly for the first time and his time qualified him for NJCAA Nationals.

The Lakers will be at the Rochester Invitational Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
