Laker softball adds player from Arizona
ESTHERVILLE - Iowa Lakes Community College softball coach Katie Larson has announced the signing of Madisyn Arechederra to the 2018-2019 recruiting class. She is the daughter of David and DonnaLisa Arechederra and played for the Sahuaro High School Cougars in Tucson, Ariz.
“We are very excited that Madisyn decided to attend Iowa Lakes next year,” Larson commented. “She is the versatile type of player that we try to fill our roster with. Her ability to play multiple positions, will get her on the field for us.”
The Lakers will be losing three outfielders as well as a second baseman after this season, so Larson says Arechederra will be battle for a position in both places.
Last season, Arechederra had a batting average of .280 from the left side and had a fielding percentage of .938.
“Madisyn was a great addition to our recruiting class,” Larson said. “She possesses the skills and attributes that we will be losing in our sophomore class next year. Her repertoire of skills on the left side of the plate and speed is something that we love about Madisyn. She also has this grittiness while she is on the field. If her jersey is not dirty when she is done with a game, she is not pleased. Her IQ and aggressiveness on the bases will also fit right into our style of play. We cannot wait to see Madisyn play as a Laker next year.”
