Laker baseball team splits with Bears
BOONE – Iowa Lakes Community College and Des Moines Area split an Iowa Community College Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Monday, with the Lakers winning the first game 7-3 and the Bears taking the nightcap 10-0 in six innings.
Jayden Adrians (Green Bay) two hits and two runs batted in for the Lakers in the opener, while Tavan Shahidi (Ames) had two hits, walked twice and recorded an RBI.
Zach Meyer (Omaha) was the winning pitcher as he went six innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits, walking five and striking out seven. He's 3-2 on the season.
Beau Britton (Colorado Springs) recorded his second save as he struck out one on one hitless inning.
The Lakers were held to three hits in the nightcap. Martin Eckard (Victoria, British Columbia) took the pitching loss.
Iowa Lakes is 2-6 in the ICCAC and 9-15 overall.
The Lakers' scheduled games at the University of Sioux Falls JV Thursday are postponed with a date to be announced. ILCC is then scheduled to host Kirkwood Saturday and Sunday.
