Iowa Lakes swimmers compete at Morningside

SIOUX CITY - Several members of the Iowa Lakes Community College swimming and diving teams placed at the Morningside Invitational Saturday.

The Lakers were eighth of nine teams in the girls meet and fifth of six teams for the men.

For the ILCC women, freshman Juliana Villa (Cali, Colombia) placed second in the 100 freestyle in 56.26 second and was also second in the 100 back with a season-best 1:01.68. She was also third in the 50 free in 26.2 seconds.

Sophomore Gabriela Reis (Petropolis, Brazil) was third in the 400 IM (5:17.67), ninth in the 200 breaststroke (2:45.27) and 11th in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.54). Also, freshman Liz Crewe-Brown (Graaff-Reinet, South Africa) placed sixth in the place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:25.82) and eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:06.95).

On the men's side, freshman Jacob Bohnert (Petersburg, Ind.) was fourth in the 200 (1:52.73) and 500 freestyle (5:11.18) and fifth in the 100 free (49.73).

Also, sophomore Gabriel Carmona (Sao Palo, Brazil) was fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.15), fifth in the 200IM (2:06.57) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.13).

Both Iowa Lakes teams will head to the Luther Invite in Decorah Saturday.
