Indians Sweep Woodbury Central in Home Opener

Tue 12-2-2014 []

The Spirit Lake Indians rolled at home over the visiting Woodbury Central Wildcats Monday night.

The girls picked up the 71-49 win and moved to 2-0 on the season. Spirit Lake led 38-24 at halftime and continued their dominance in the second half. Emma Dau led the Indians in scoring with 15 points. Macy Smith added 12 points and Carly Ites had 10 points. The Spirit Lake girls are on the road Friday, at Jackson County Central.

In the boys game, the Indians knocked off the Wildcats by a final of 77-51. The Indians led 37-31 at the half and came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Woodbury Central 23-6. Spirit Lake showed strength from behind the arc, but the addition of Ryan Kriener down low proved to be too much for the Wildcats to handle, as he added 34 points and 8 rebounds in his regular season debut for the Indians. Trevor Smith had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. Billy Brown added 11 points, including three 3-pointers, along with 7 assists. Alec Henrickson was the fourth Indian in double figures with 10 points. They'll host OA-BCIG on Saturday.
