ILCC women's soccer seeded fifth in region
SPENCER - Iowa Lakes Community College is seeded fifth for the Region XI women's soccer tournament.
The Lakers, 6-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference, will face fourth-seeded Indian Hills (12-3, 6-3) at 2 p.m. Sunday in Ottumwa.
It's the third meeting of the season. The Warriors won each regular-season matchup, 5-3 in Spencer on Aug. 25 and 5-2 in Ottumwa on Sept. 15.
"This will be a tough match as we have met them twice already this season.," said ILCC coach Blake Viedenkamp. "Indian Hills is a good squad and we look forward to the opportunity to compete against them again. Our team has grown and improved since our last match up and we look forward to seeing how we compete.
"I think we are hitting our stride at the right time in terms of moving the ball together, we just need to work on our finishing."
The winner advances at play at top-seeded Iowa Western Wednesday.
Sunday's other first-round game has sixth-seeded NIACC at third-seeded Northeast. That winner plays at second-seeded Iowa Central Wednesday.
The region championship game is Saturday, Oct. 27 at the higher remaining seed.
