ILCC softball team drops two to Ellsworth

CRESTON – Ellsworth won both ends of a softball doubleheader from Iowa Lakes Community College Friday as the Panthers defeated the Lakers by scores of 12-11 and 13-6.

In the first game, Bibiana Rosales (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) took the loss for the Lakers, pitching two innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out five. Yasmine Nix (Coachella, Calif.) pitched four innings, allowing eight runs (one earned) on six hits, walking four and striking out two.

Kacie Salazar (Bakersfield, Calif.) had two hits and scored two runs. Lexi Pallisco (Colorado Springs) had a hit, walked twice and had three runs batted in.

In the second game, Julia Sullwold (Totino-Grace) was the losing pitcher for ILCC, allowing five runs (one earned) on five hits with one walk. Rosales allowed five runs (four earned) on two hits and three walks. Naomi Tolmachoff (Goodyear, Ariz. Desert Edge) allowed three runs on five hits, walking two and striking out three.

Salazar had two hits including a home run, Leilani San Pedro (Redlands, Calif.,) had a grand slam and Gabby Heckard (Estherville) also homered for the Lakers.

The Lakers will play NIACC Monday in Austin.
