ILCC softball sweeps Iowa Central
ESTHERVILLE – The Iowa Lakes Community College softball team swept Iowa Central Wednesday, winning 5-3 and 6-5.
Yasmine Nix went the distance in picking up the pitching win in the first game, allowing three earned run on four hits, walking three and striking out two.
Kacie Salazar hit a grand slam for the Lakers, while Desiree Lopez had two hits.
Julia Sullwold pitched the first five innings in the nightcap, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits, walking three and striking out one. Nix pitched the final two innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits, walking one and striking out two.
At the plate, Nix had two hits including a home run, while Sullwold, Kaitlin Walsh and Desiree Lopez all had two hits.
Iowa Lakes is 7-11 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and 17-23 overall.
The Lakers will host NIACC in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Friday.
