ILCC softball sweeps Ellsworth

CRESTON – The Iowa Lakes Community College softball team swept a pair of run-rule shortened games Tuesday, winning 15-6 in six innings and 14-6 in five innings.

In the first game, Kacie Salazar (Bakersfield, Calif. Ridgeview) had three hits and six runs batted in for the Lakers.

Lexi Pallisco (Colorado Springs Doherty) and Julia Sullwold (Totino-Grace) each had two hits.

Yasmine Nix (Coachella, Calif. LaQuinta) was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing six runs (one earned) on nine hits, walking two and striking out five.

Sullwold won the second game. Nix also pitched and had two hits and four RBI.

Gabby Heckard (Esthervillle Lincoln Central) had three hits and scored three runs.

Kenlee Frank (Greeley, Colo. West) and Pallisco each had three RBI, while Leilani San Pedro (Redlands, Calif. East Valley) and Salazar each scored three runs.

The Lakers are now 5-9 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and 14-20 overall.

ILCC is scheduled to play Kirkwood Community College Sunday. The site has not been determined.
