ILCC softball signs catcher from Oklahoma
ESTHERVILLE – A catcher from Oklahoma is the latest player to join the Iowa Lakes Community College softball program.
Autumn Phelps was a four-year starter at Muldrow High School.
She helped the Bulldogs to a district championship as a freshman.
As a senior, she batted .304 and threw 12 runners out. She was named all-conference as a freshman season and was all-district her junior and senior seasons. In addition, she was named her team's Defensive Player of the Year.
“Autumn is an amazing young lady, “commented Iowa Lakes coach Katie Larson. “She is the type of kid that every coach wants on their team. She has the personality and work ethic to make a positive impact on our program and this school. She will be a great role-model to her peers and the youth in the area.
“Her presence behind the plate is comforting. Her demeanor is very calm, which is something that we were looking for to lead our defense. Autumn’s arm strength and quick transfer is going to hold runners in the conference in check next season. Offensively, she has awesome hands to the ball which allows her to hit to the power alleys consistently. She is the type of kid that will step into this program and make an immediate impact for us.”
