ILCC softball has 1-2 day in Florida
CLERMONT, Fla. - The Iowa Lakes Community College softball team won one game and lost two on Thursday. The Lakers are now 6-9 overall.
ILCC opened with a 13-3 loss in five innings to Cuyahoga Community College.
Kacie Salazar (Bakersfield, Calif.) and Kaitlin Walsh (Medford, Wis.) had two hits apiece for the Lakers.
Naomi Tolmachoff (Goodyear, Ariz.) took the loss, pitching two and two-third innings, giving up nine runs (four earned) on nine hits, walking one and striking out two. Bibiana Rosales (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) pitched the final two and one-third innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits, walking one and striking out one.
Iowa Lakes then lost 8-4 to Illinois Valley.
Rosales took the pitching loss for the Lakers, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits, walking five and striking out five. Yasmine Nix (Coachella, Calif.) also pitched for the Lakers, giving up two earned runs on four hits.
Desiree Lopez (Redlands, Calif.) had two hits. Leilani San Pedro (Redlands, Calif.) and Kenlee Frank (Greeley, Colo.) each hit a home run.
ILCC closed the day with a 9-6 win over Madison College.
San Pedro had three hits including a grand slam, four runs batted in, scored four runs and stolen a base. Julia Sullwold (Totino-Grace) and Lopez had two hits apiece.
Nix got the seven inning complete game win, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits, walking three and striking out two.
The Lakers will close out their trip with two games Friday, facing Cuyahoga Community College and Niagara County Community College.
