ILCC, NIACC softball teams split indoors
AUSTIN – The Iowa Lakes Community College softball team split a doubleheader with North Iowa Area Community College on Monday at the Packer Dome.
ILCC won the first game 14-8, with the Trojans taking the second game 10-1.
Yasmine Nix (Coachella, Calif.) got the win in the opener for the Lakers as she allowed eight earned runs on 16 hits while walking one.
Kaitlin Walsh (Medford, Wis.) was 4-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored. Montanna Popp (Adel) was 3-5 with all three hits being doubles and she also had two RBI and scored twice.
Julia Sullwold (Totino-Grace) and Gabby Heckard (Estherville Lincoln Central) each had two hits for the Lakers.
Nix took the loss for ILCC in the second game as she pitched three and two-third innings, allowing four earned runs on eight hits. Bibiana Rosales (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) pitched the final two innings, allowing six runs (all unearned) on five hits, walking two and striking out one.
Sullwold was 3-3 with a double, run scored and one stolen base.
The Lakers are 1-3 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference and 10-14 overall.
Iowa Lakes is scheduled to travel to Norfolk, Neb. Wednesday for a doubleheader vs. Northeast Community College.
