HMS Softball Gets Win On Q 102

A five run first inning set the pace for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and the Hawks came away with a 15-7 road win at George-Little Rock/Central Lyon on Thursday night in non-conference softball.  HMS led by as much as nine runs in the contest.  The Hawks tallied 16 hits in the game compared to eight for the Mustangs.  Teresa Recher and Amanda Recher were each 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored for HMS.  Alexis Sonich was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and a four runs scored.  Kaylen Kuchel got the win on the mound.  She pitched all seven innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits.  She struck out eight while walking seven.  The Hawks are 2-0 and host MMC-RU on Friday.  Kayla Gerken went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a walk for GLR/CL.  Greta Ackermann was the losing pitcher.  She struck out three while walking one.  The Mustangs are 2-1 and host Okoboji on Friday.
