HMS Girls Basketball Remains Perfect

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn used a big third quarter to pull away from Harris-Lake Park and pick up a 51-35 victory on Tuesday night. The Hawks opened the game on a 9-0 run but a late surge allowed the Wolves to tie it at 13 after one quarter. H-M-S built a five point lead in the second quarter but saw H-LP pull within one at 25-24 at halftime. The third quarter saw the Hawks offense heat up and H-LP go ice cold as H-M-S outscored the Wolves 16-4 to lead 41-28 entering the final quarter. Kenna Rieck led all scorers with 17 for the Hawks. Olivia Japenga added 15 and H-M-S improves to 2-0 on the year. They host Remsen St. Mary's on Friday. H-LP was led by Blake Gunderson's 13 points. Taylor Meyer added 12. The wolves falls to 0-2.
