HMS Basketball Splits With South O'Brien

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's hot shooting was too much for South O’Brien and the Hawks ran away with a 70-38 win in Paullina on Tuesday night. HMS led 26-11 after one, 37-19 at halftime, and 55-30 after three quarters. The Hawks had three players in double figures led by Regan Shockley with 16. Jaylin Rieck added 14 while Megan Kroese chipped in 13. HMS is 7-2 and hosts West Sioux on Friday. Olivia Sickelka led the Wolverines with 10. SOS is 4-7 and plays at Trinity Christian on Friday.
South O’Brien made the most of their trips to the free throw line and edged Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 54-47 on Tuesday night in Paullina. It was a low scoring contest in the first half with SOS lead 10-8 after one quarter and 21-15 at halftime. HMS would take a brief lead in the third quarter before the Wolverines finished the quarter with a 38-34 lead. Dallas Jalas led all scorers for SOS with 21 points. He was 7-for-9 from the free throw line. Damon Struve added 12 as the Wolverines improve to 7-3. They are at Trinity Christian on Friday. Daniel Heitritter led the Hawks with 14. He had four three pointers. Jordan Japenga chipped in 12 as HMS falls to 5-3 and hosts West Sioux on Friday.
